NCMA WS is proud to host chef Ian McPherson and artist Ryan Thomas for this season's Art Bites dinner. RYAN THOMAS is a furniture maker, poet, and golf caddie. He recently moved from Winston-Salem to Southwestern VA to live in the mountains with his wife, Meredith, and their dog, Rutabaga. He tries to recognize the natural world in his poetry because there is beauty surrounding us, and it is so easy to be distracted by all the other nonsense we have built to fill our time. You can find him either watching the way water moves after rainstorms or trying to remember what he was supposed to be doing. IAN McPHERSON began his culinary career while studying agroecology in Greenville, SC. Working at Oak Hill Cafe —a James Beard-nominated kitchen with an onsite farm —Ian found a passion for telling the story of land through food. His menus are built in close collaboration with local farmers, creating plates that showcase a sense of place. A Winston-Salem native, Ian recently moved back to NC to open the kitchen at Little Pep, a new wine bar in the Arts District.
