Behind Closed Doors is an adult-only staged reading to raise awareness about domestic violence during Women’s History Month. The event is an artistic protest that makes the suffering of victims of domestic violence visible. The presenters want to give community leaders the opportunity to be part of an awareness movement, representing different levels of the violence meter, or “violentómetro,” which is an instrument created in Mexico to measure the severity levels of domestic violence.
Behind Closed Doors is written and directed by Jenny Bustamante Ferrell and produced by Coreen Villlalobos. The project has the support of the General Consulate of Mexico in Raleigh, the YMCA of the Triangle, and the Manbites Dog Theater Fund, among other agencies.
The cast and production team includes Xochilt Carlos, Francisco Guzman, Heidy Gomez, Adis Liy, Marissa Sullivan, Agustin Gonzalez, Lorena Trocel, Pierina Prato, Kevin Dávila, Alexandra Valladares, Ines Freile, Gonzalo Aguirre, Laura Gonzqui, Gabby Marcano, Gary Bloise, Taty Padilla, Loris Camargo, Wendy Araujo, Carolina Díaz, and Mónica Andrade.
A Puerta Cerrada es una lectura durante el mes de la historia de la mujer, solo apta para adultos para crear conciencia sobre la violencia doméstica. El evento es una protesta artística que hace visible el sufrimiento de las víctimas de la violencia doméstica. Los presentadores quieren darle la oportunidad a los líderes de la comunidad de participar de un movimiento para generar conciencia, representando distintos niveles de violencia en el “violentómetro”, un instrumento creado en México para medir los niveles de la gravedad de la violencia doméstica.
A Puerta Cerrada fue escrito y dirigido por Jenny Bustamante Ferrell, y producido por Coreen Villalobos. El proyecto tiene el apoyo del Consulado General de México en Raleigh, el YMCA del Triangle y el Manbites Dog Theater Fund, entre otras agencias.
