Ancient Egyptians greatly enlarged the repertoire of materials available to artists and created stunning paintings that still vibrate with color today. Join NCMA conservator Perry Hurt and artist Patricia Savage for a series of virtual workshops. Through presentations and demos, they show how ancient Egyptian materials were used and how they might be adapted for contemporary studio practice. Students will create their own paintings and learn about pigments, brushes, and surfaces.
This virtual workshop consists of two 90-minute Zoom sessions (Saturdays, January 9, and 16, 1:30–3 pm each day). All skill levels welcome; most appropriate for age 16 and up.
