In the early 1950s, North Carolina invested $1 million in a state art collection, leading to the creation of the North Carolina Museum of Art in 1956. Lyle Humphrey, associate curator of European art and collections history, takes you on a decades-long journey through downtown Raleigh and beyond to explain how the Museum came to fruition.
