If you enjoy watching and talking about films, join us for a virtual meeting of the NCMA Film Club! This month we will be watching and discussing two documentary shorts about dance and trauma, Fragile and Ballet After Dark.
Francine E. Ott, the director of Fragile and the NCMA’s dancer in residence, will be the special guest for the discussion.
Fragile (2020). Directed by Francine E. Ott. 13 min. NR
This film focuses on women of color and how trauma has affected their bodies, voices, relationships, emotions, artistry, and more. Inspired by the song “Fragile” by Eryn Allen Kane, the film encourages viewers to continue along in their healing journey.
Ballet After Dark (2019). Directed by B. Monét. 21 min. NR
Classically trained ballerina Tyde-Courtney Edwards established Ballet After Dark after her own traumatizing attack to help other sexual abuse and domestic violence survivors find strength and healing through dance therapy.
How it works
Links to watch the short films will be included in the registration confirmation email along with the Zoom link to join the discussion. You will also be sent a reminder email with the Zoom meeting info one hour before.
If you do not receive a confirmation email or for additional questions on the content of this program, email Maria Lopez.
