Effective Monday, October 4, the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources and the North Carolina Museum of Art require film and lecture program participants ages 13 and up to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination or a negative COVID-19 NAAT or PCR test result; test results must be within 72 hours of the event. Please plan to have one of these items in hand upon entry for Museum personnel.

Join Michele Frederick, associate curator of European art, to learn about works from the NCMA collection in the exhibition Alphonse Mucha: Art Nouveau Visionary. First she examines the international scope of the artistic practices and developments that influenced Mucha through two paintings by American artists who studied in France and then brought new kinds of art back to the United States around the turn of the twentieth century. Then Frederick explores Mucha’s and Auguste Rodin’s lasting friendship and how new scientific and aesthetic developments influenced Rodin’s transformation of sculpture into modern art.

This lecture will be held both in person and virtually on Zoom. Please select an option at checkout.
