About Eddie Palmieri
Known as one of the finest pianists of the past 60 years, Eddie Palmieri is a bandleader, arranger, and composer of salsa and Latin jazz. His playing skillfully fuses the rhythm of his Puerto Rican heritage with the complexity of his jazz influences: Thelonious Monk, Herbie Hancock, McCoy Tyner, and his older brother, Charlie Palmieri. In 2009 the Library of Congress added Palmieri’s composition “Azucar Pa’ Ti” to the National Recording Registry, which at the time only included 300 compositions documenting the history of recorded music in the US.

About Sheila E.
Guided by the forces of family, faith, and music, percussionist and singer Sheila E. has made a name for herself as a talented musical icon. With a fearless nature and a passion for sharing her gifts with others, she truly follows the beat of her own drum. Sheila E.’s eagerness to share her music, openness as an author, and fire for her ministry make her a relatable, inspirational figure for people of all ages.

Please keep an eye out for our Know before You Go email, which will be sent a few weeks before the concert. Also feel free to reach out to Moses.T.AlexanderGreene@ncdcr.gov should you have any questions.
