In this two-day workshop on Saturday and Sunday, March 25–26, 10 am–3 pm, participants harvest and process invasive vines from the Museum Park, then learn weaving techniques to create basket-woven vessels. This process opens up a conversation about the intersection of ecological responsibility, creative placemaking, and heritage crafts.
About the instructor
Angela Eastman is an artist working in sculpture and installation to examine how societal dis-integration from local ecology affects our relationship to natural resources. A background in traditional craft education and farm work influences her focus on using natural materials as a connection to place.
She holds an MFA in sculpture from Cranbrook Academy of Art, a BA in studio art from Colorado College, and completed the two-year core fellowship program at Penland School of Crafts. Her work has been exhibited nationally and is in the collections of Duke University, Colorado College, and the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.
