In honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, join us for the lecture “Origins of the Dream: Hughes’s Poetry and King’s Rhetoric” by National Humanities Center Fellow Dr. W. Jason Miller. The evening includes a post-lecture discussion moderated by historian Dr. Everett B. Ward and songs by Mahalia Jackson (beloved by Dr. King) performed by North Carolina native Lynnette Barber, accompanied by former NCMA composer in residence Carolyn Colquitt.
