Join North Carolina artist Napoleon Wright II for an illustration, animation, and storytelling workshop inspired by our special exhibition Ruth. E Carter: Afrofuturism in Costume Design (on view through August 6).

This hybrid three-session workshop introduces teens to the exhibition and takes them through the creative process to bring stories to life through illustration, animation, or film. The in-person sessions are on July 8 and July 29, and the virtual session is on July 15.

The program is open to teens ages 13–18 of all experience levels. Participants are expected to bring their own computers or tablets. Please email if this presents a barrier to attendance. All other supplies are provided.

Please be prepared to bring the following to the first day of class:

  • Device to draw digitally (iPad, stylus, Wacom, tablet)
  • Device to access the internet (phone or laptop)

Please contact Sabrina Hurtado, manager of teen and college programs, with questions or for more information.
