About the presenter
Ralph Pugay was born in Cavite, Philippines, and has been based in Portland, Oregon, for most of his adult life. His narrative paintings act as a curious and comical mirror to the surreal experiences of cultural dissonance, alienation, and displacement. He has received a Joan Mitchell Fellowship and a Betty Bowen Award and participated in residencies at the Rauschenberg Residency on Captiva, Joan Mitchell Center, Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, and Vermont Studio Center. Pugay's work has been exhibited nationally, including at the Seattle Art Museum, Upfor Gallery, Ortega y Gasset Projects, Marinaro, AA|LA, and Vox Populi.
